Inserts

Fireplace inserts are the perfect way to turn your masonry fireplaces into an efficient heater. An open wood fireplace uses large amounts of room air for the combustion process and to create the draft. The majority of the heat from the wood is going out of your home. Wood burning inserts control the amount of room air that is being used for the combustion process, harness the heat from the wood, and can be up to 50%-60% more efficient!

Wood inserts are like stoves without legs that are designed to fit inside the cavity of your fireplace. It is either connected to your flue by a partial or full chimney liner. Any open space around the insert is covered by a surround panel to seal off the fireplace opening. Blowers, standard on some models and optional on others, help to move the heat out from the unit and into your room.

At Nordic Stove and Fireplace Center both catalytic and non-catalytic inserts are available. Each offers unique benefits and technologies to limit emissions and enhance efficiency by igniting potentially polluting volatile gases released from burning wood. Overnight burns are achievable in certain units and heavy soot build-up on viewing glass is a thing of the past.
